Minister of Commerce and Industry

His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani was appointed Minister of Commerce and Industry in November 2024. He brings extensive leadership and management experience, having held numerous senior positions in both local and international institutions.

Currently, His Excellency holds several prominent roles in Qatar. He serves as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Doha Investment. He also serves as Chairman of the Boards of the Qatar Free Zones Authority, the Qatar Financial Centre Authority, and Qatar Stock Exchange. He chairs the Advisory Board of the Investment Promotion Agency (Invest Qatar) and serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of Companies House.

His Excellency also serves as Chairman of the Boards of Directors of Ooredoo Group and Lesha Bank, and as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Development Bank (QDB). In addition, he serves as a member of the Boards of Directors of Qatar Airways Group and Qatar Insurance Company.

He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Investment Authority, as well as a member of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment, the National Planning Council, and the Supreme Committee for the Preparation of the Third National Development Strategy.

During his career, His Excellency served as Chief Investment Officer for Asia and Africa at the Qatar Investment Authority, in addition to holding several other leadership positions. He served as Chief Investment Officer at the Qatar Foundation Endowment from 2014 to 2017 and played a key role in managing investments at the Qatar Central Bank from 2010 to 2014.

His Excellency also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Banking Studies and Business Administration Secondary School and as Vice Chairman of Vodafone Qatar from 2013 to 2016. In addition, he served on the boards of several prominent organisations, including Ahlibank, Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, Nakilat, Bharti Airtel, and Siemens Qatar.

His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Marymount University in the United States of America and an Executive Master's degree in Business Administration from HEC Paris.
