Qatar Elected Co-Chair of Arab Competition Network’s Mergers and Acquisitions Working Group
The State of Qatar, represented by the Competition Protection Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has been elected Co-Chair of the Mergers and Acquisitions Working Group of the Arab Competition Network (ACN), reflecting Qatar’s active role in advancing competition protection at the Arab level.
The election took place during the fifth meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab Competition Network, held virtually last week.
This achievement strengthens the State of Qatar’s role in supporting cooperation and coordination among competition authorities across Arab countries and promoting the exchange of expertise, experiences and best practices, contributing to the development of competition protection frameworks and the promotion of fair competition principles.
As Co-Chair, the Competition Protection Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry will contribute to leading the Working Group’s activities, including the preparation of its work plan, the organization of specialized meetings and workshops, and the exchange of knowledge and expertise among competition authorities in member states. The Department will also contribute to the implementation of specialized training programmes, particularly in the areas of mergers and acquisitions and economic concentrations.
