About the Ministry

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry supervises and develops commercial and industrial activities in line with national economic goals, while promoting investment and exports.
It also regulates markets, protects consumers and fair competition, issues licenses, and supports the growth of national industries and industrial zones.

Ministry Responsibilities

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry oversees and directs commercial and industrial activities in line with national development objectives. It also works to develop the business sector, attract investments, support and enhance exports, and improve the methods and procedures for delivering services to the business and investment sectors.

It is further responsible for regulating the practice of commercial professions, registering commercial and investment entities, and issuing the necessary licenses. In addition, it organizes and monitors markets within its jurisdiction, takes the necessary measures to protect consumers, combat commercial fraud, promote fair competition, prevent monopolistic practices, and safeguard intellectual property rights. The Ministry also sets general industrial policies, develops national industries, manages and develops its affiliated industrial zones, and proposes the establishment of new industrial areas.
