Intellectual Property Rights Protection Department
The responsibilities entrusted to this department
1.
•
Educating and supporting authors and performers about the best practices for exercising their intellectual property and financial rights.
2.
•
Settling intellectual property disputes between authors and performers, sound-recording producers, patent holders, integrated circuits designs and other intellectual property holders.
3.
•
Managing copyright and intellectual property disputes locally and internationally as well as making appropriate recommendations to respective parties.
4.
•
Review literary and artistic works, audio recordings, performances and radio programs requests.
5.
•
Combating intellectual property infringement of any kind.
6.
•
Processing requests, patent registrations and integrated circuits designs protection requests.
7.
•
Documenting and keeping records of intellectual property and integrated circuits designs requests patent applications and issuing certificates.
8.
•
Maintaining an official database of all trademark registrations, trade names, industrial designs and geographical indication (GI) applications.
9.
•
Regulating the use of trademarks.
10.
•
Implementing policies relating to trademark registrations, trade names, industrial designs and geographical indication (GI) applications.
11.
•
Issuing official opinions on new legislation and international agreements related to the protection and intellectual property rights.
