On the sidelines of Qatar’s Economic Roadshow in CharlestonRoundtable sectoral discussions touch on food security, transport and IT
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in cooperation with Qatar Chamber, the Qatari Businessmen Association, the U.S Chamber of Commerce, the Arab American Chamber of Commerce and the Qatari-US Business Council, has organized roundtable sectoral discussions on topics of food security, transport, communications and information technology.
The sessions brought together a number of Qatari and U.S officials and businessmen, as well as nearly 30 U.S companies from various industries, including Boeing, as well as a number of companies operating in the fields of tourism and hospitality, medical equipment, renewable energy, engineering and construction, real estate, transport, food production, health care, education, research and energy.
Participants explored investment opportunities and potential partnerships in addition to discussing the exchange of expertise between Qatari businessmen and their U.S counterparts.
Discussions also touched on joint cooperation in trading food supplies. A number of U.S investors and professionals in the pharmaceutical and medical services industries expressed interest in investing in Qatar while Qatari participants highlighted laws related to the import of medicines and the establishment of medical complexes within Qatar.
U.S investors also expressed significant interest in investing in the construction sector in Qatar, which has witnessed an urban revival in the last two decades. On the other hand, Qatari investors have shown interest in investing in development sectors the US.
The sessions concluded with bilateral meetings between Qatari businessmen and their U.S counterparts, during which they agreed to enhance cooperation and enter into partnerships.
