H.E. Undersecretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry meets with Portuguese Officials during his Visit to Portugal pavilion at the Hannover Fair

On the side-lines of the Hannover Messe 2022

His Excellency Mr. Sultan bin Rashid AlKhater, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, met with H.E Joao Neves, deputy minister for the economy, and H.E Joao Saldanha de Azevedo Galamba, secretary of state for energy and climate change in the republic of Portugal, during his visit to Portugal pavilion at the Hannover Fair, as part of Qatar’s participation in the Hannover Messe International Industrial Fair 2022.

During the visit, H.E the Undersecretary of Commerce and Industry discussed improving bilateral relations between the two countries in several fields, and reviewed number of topics of mutual interest, aiming to enhance cooperation through commerce, investment, and industry sectors.

H.E. the Undersecretary of Commerce and Industry highlighted the successful economic policies Qatar has put in place to support the private sector, and pointed out the incentives, legislations, and promising opportunities available in Qatar that are aimed at encouraging Portuguese investors, businessmen, and business owners to invest in Qatar.

His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry was briefed on the sections of the pavilion, and the presentations offered on investment opportunities, as well as the most prominent initiatives, projects, services, and products, in addition to benefits granted to international company owners and investors.

H.E. stressed that the fair provides an important opportunity for businessmen, investors, and officials of major companies to learn about the latest innovations and industrial technologies, in addition to comprising a chance for the participating parties to promote their products in new markets. Moreover, it comprises an opportunity to communicate with many decision-makers in the industrial field, in addition to exchanging expertise and experiences, thus enhancing cooperation and forming joint projects.

It is worth noting that the volume of trade exchange between the State of Qatar and the Portuguese Republic amounted to about $205.8 million in 2021. Additionally, Qatar is home to 44 Portuguese companies operating in many important economic sectors and activities. Moreover, the two countries are bound by several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and agreements, including the Agreement on Economic and Commercial Cooperation.
