Commercial Affairs Sector

The Commercial Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is responsible for supervising and regulating markets related to the Ministry’s field of expertise in coordination with relevant parties via the Registration and Commercial Licenses department. The division is also responsible for evaluating and processing licensing applications for commercial activities as well as ratifying certificates of origin and registering commercial agency agreements.

The Registration and Commercial Licenses department monitors and implements regulations related to the principle of reciprocity with other countries that export goods and commodities to Qatar via local approved agents.

The Companies Affairs department supervises the establishment of commercial companies, inspects them and monitors their compliance with commercial legislations. The department also regulates the audit profession and keeps records of legal accountants, foreign companies, companies subject to investment laws, and commercial representative offices.

The Intellectual Property department is responsible for protecting intellectual property rights that include copyrights, patents, trademarks and industrial design rights.
