Fifteenth Meeting of the Committee of GCC Ministers of Transport and Communications – October 5, 2011 in Abu Dhabi – UAE

The Committee of the Transport and Communications Ministers in the Gulf Cooperation Council held its fifteenth meeting on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
 
The meeting was attended by representatives of all the Member States, and was chaired by HE Sheikh / Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan / Minister of Public Works and Chairman of the National Transport Authority in the United Arab Emirates, and head of the UAE delegation. The State of Qatar was represented by HE Ambassador / Abdullah Bin Mohamed Al-Othman, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in the United Arab Emirates.
 
The meeting was also attended by:
1 – Mr. / Nasser Massaad Said Kdar – Acting Director of the Department of Public Transport
2 – Mr. / Hamad Salem Al Khalifa – Specialist in the Transportation domain
3 – Mr. / Mohammed Faleh Al-Hajri – Chairman of the International Conventions and Relations – Civil Aviation Authority

His Excellency the GCC General Secretary Mr./ Abdul Latif bin Rashid Al Zayani was also among the attendants.

After a thorough discussion of the agenda in light of the minutes of meeting of the teams and technical committees, and the notes put by the General Secretariat on the issues to be discussed in the meeting, and the minutes of the Sixteenth Meeting (Preparatory) of the Committee of Deputy Ministers of Transport and Communications of the GCC States, held in Abu Dhabi on 3 and 4 October 2011, it was agreed on several important issues, among them :

First : Railway Project between the GCC countries
 

Second : A study on the Economic Benefits of linking the GCC railway to the Republic of Yemen

Third : Establishment of a Transportation Data Base in the GCC States
 
Fourth: The minutes of the 20th meeting of the Committee of GCC Port Authorities and Maritime Administrations’ Officials (June 26 – 27, 2011)
 
Fifth: Minutes of the seventh meeting of the Technical Committee for Land Transport and Road Engineering in the GCC States (September 25, 2011)
