His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry, met today with His Excellency Mr. Ranil Jayawardena, UK Minister for International Trade, and the accompanying delegation currently visiting the country.

During the meeting, officials touched on the bilateral relations between the two countries and discussed aspects of joint cooperation, especially in the commercial, investment, and industrial fields, as well as ways to enhance and develop them.

The meeting also featured a discussion of trade policies between the two countries, and the efforts exerted by both to confront the COVID-19 pandemic.

During the meeting, H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Industry highlighted the economic policies that Qatar had adopted and the measures it had taken to abolish restrictions on foreign investment and create investment opportunities for companies looking to invest in Qatar.

The volume of trade exchange between Qatar and the UK amounted to nearly $3 billion in 2020, and the United Kingdom ranks as Qatar’s seventh trade partner.
