H.E. Undersecretary of Ministry of Commerce and Industry Participates in Ministerial Roundtable at Second Edition of FMF in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

His Excellency Mr Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, participated in the Ministerial Roundtable, convening ministers concerned with the mineral resources sector, organized by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources (MIM), within the framework of the second edition of the Future Minerals Forum (FMF), themed “creating responsible and resilient minerals and metals supply and value chains in Africa, Western and Central Asia”, taking place on January 10-12, in Riyadh.

The Roundtable featured the participation of a number of ministers, representatives of government delegations, governmental and non-governmental organizations, and multilateral agencies involved in the mining sector at the regional and international levels.

The Roundtable entailed four dialogue sessions to highlight the role of governments in developing vital supply chains for minerals, means to enhance cooperation between countries to accelerate establishing a green metals industry, as well as ways to enhance global cooperation to establish Centres of Excellence, in aims at supporting development capabilities in the region, and looking into joint cooperation opportunities to maximize mineral utilization, with a focus on the role of mining in economic development. This comes alongside showcasing successful models in this regard in States across the region.

His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry moreover took part in the activities of FMF’s second day, January 11, 2023, which included dialogue sessions. Activities also featured organizing an accompanying exhibition displaying the latest current and future mining technologies, as well as highlighting investment opportunities available in the regions of Africa, West and Central Asia.
