Minister of Business and Trade Meets Egyptian Foreign Trade Minister

HE the Minister of Business and Trade Sheikh Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al Thani met here today with Egyptian Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry HE Mr. Hatim Abdel Hamid Mahmoud Saleh. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the twenty-eighth session of the Standing Committee of the Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), currently under way in Istanbul, Turkey.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed areas of trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and agreed on the need to focus on the development and promotion of trade and to remove  all the obstacles hampering such cooperation while benefiting from trade and investment opportunities in both countries.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry thanks to the State of Qatar for its support of Egypt in all fields, especially in the areas of investment in infrastructure .He reviewed the latest developments on the economic indicators in Egypt referring to the great progress in  Egypt’s economic growth.
He briefed the Minister of Business and Trade on the  progress of the Qatari-Egyptian joint investment projects. Qatar and Egypt have signed a number of bilateral and multilateral agreements, including an agreement aimed to facilitate and develop trade exchange and its executive programme for the establishment of a greater Arab  free trade zone. Earlier the two countries  also signed an agreement to protect and promote investments between the two countries and an agreement for the exchange of trade and economic and technical cooperation and encouragement of investments.
The volume of trade exchange between the two countries reached nearly QAR 2 billion, recording a growth of almost 10 percent compared to 2010.
