Minister of Business and Trade : Punitive Actions Against Price Raise

The Ministry of Business and Trade informs all companies, suppliers and business owners practicing commercial activities in the State of Qatar, that, in line with the Emiri Decision No. (50) for the year 2011 on the increase of basic salaries, social allowances and pensions for employees and retirees of Qatari civilians and military personnel in the state ;
The Ministry of Business and Trade, represented by the Department of Consumer Protection, describesits keenness to preserve the public interest, stating that it will cooperate with the concerned authorities in the State to prevent any kind of unjustified price rises. The Ministry warns that it will move toward the criminal proceedings and take the deterrent measures as stated in the laws, regulations and Ministerial decisionsrelevant to the Consumer Protection and the fight against commercial fraud, in order to protect the competition and prevent any monopolistic practices.
His Excellency Sheikh / Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Minister of Business and Trade,instructed those in charge in the Ministry to protect the income of individuals and the general public,stressing the importance ofensuring that service consumption grows in a balanced manner with the growth of savings and investment capacity of the members of the Qatari society, and the necessity of enhancing awareness and responsibility among traders and business owners and the consumers as well.
In addition to the Department of Consumer Protection’s vital role in price control and the prevention of unfair business practices, the Ministry of Business and Trade stresses the importance of the consumer’s cooperation with the Ministry by complaining or reporting any unjustified rises in prices, through one of the following ways :
