Ministry of Commerce and Industry announces partial closure of delivery company’s delivery program, Umm Salal Mohammed Branch

For non-compliance with the mandatory price bulletin for vegetables and fruits, and failure to abide by the principles and controls for any increase in prices

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced the partial closure of the delivery program of a delivery company, Umm Salal Mohammed branch, for a period of one month, due to violating Article No. (10) of Law No. (8) of 2008 Consumer Protection, and Article No. (4) of Ministerial Resolution No. (1) of 2011 regarding controls for setting prices of vegetables and fruits.

The violation comprised non-compliance with the mandatory price bulletin for vegetables and fruits, and failure to abide by the principles and controls for any increase in prices.

This measure comes as part of the intensive inspection campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to monitor markets and commercial activities in the country, in order to control prices and uncover abuses and fraudulent, counterfeit, and non-conforming goods.

In this regard, the Ministry stressed that it would not tolerate any negligence in terms of meeting obligations stipulated in law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection and its executive bylaws.

The Ministry is working to intensify its inspection campaigns to control violating practices, and to refer violators of laws and Ministerial decisions to the competent authorities to take the due measures.
