In cooperation with MoI, MME, and MOPH

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, jointly with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Municipality and Environment, and Ministry of Public Health, launched inspection campaigns on retail outlets and street vendors in various areas, including Al Khor, Madinat Khalifa South, and Salwa Road, to monitor the degree of compliance with laws and resolutions regulating commercial activities, including Law No. (25) of 2005 on Commercial Registration, and Law No. (5) of 2015 on Commercial, Industrial and Similar Public Shops, and Street Vendors.
The campaigns resulted in the seizure and release of 24 violations, of which the most prominent were: commercial license expiration, failure to comply with the general and special requirements and practicing street vending without a commercial license.
The inspection campaigns form part of the Ministry’s efforts to monitor and regulate markets and commercial activities across Qatar, and to assess the degree of compliance with laws and regulations governing commercial activities, and crack down on violators.
The Ministry stressed that it would not tolerate any negligence in terms of meeting obligations stipulated in Law No. (25) of 2005 and Law No. (5) of 2015, and that it would intensify its inspection campaigns to crack down on such practices. Any party that violates laws and Ministerial decisions will be referred to the relevant authorities, who would take appropriate measures to protect consumer rights.
The Ministry urges all merchants and shopkeepers to comply with applicable laws and regulations governing commercial activities. To avoid legal accountability and penalties, vendors are advised to review all applicable laws and regulations on the Ministry’s website www.moci.gov.qa.
