Ministry of Commerce and Industry carries out joint inspection campaign on retail outlet working in a residence in Msheireb

For selling counterfeit products and goods of international brands on social media platforms

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, carried out a joint inspection campaign on a retail outlet operating without a commercial license in ahouse in Msheireb, in violation of Article No. (6) of Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection.

The inspection campaign resulted in issuing a violation against the retail outlet for displaying and selling counterfeit products and goods bearing international marks on social media platforms, as well as for practicing the commercial activity without obtaining the necessary licensing. The due legal measures were taken against the violators.  

These inspection campaigns are part of the Ministry’s efforts to monitor markets and commercial activities across Qatar, and control prices, as well as detect abuses, and commodities that are falsified, counterfeit, or non-conforming to standard specifications.

Violating Law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection exposes perpetrators to penalties ranging from administrative closure to financial fines between three thousand and one million Qatari Riyals.

In this regard, the Ministry stressed that it would not tolerate any negligence in terms of meeting obligations stipulated in law No. (8) of 2008 on Consumer Protection and its executive bylaws.

The Ministry is working to intensify its inspection campaigns to control violating practices, and to refer violators of laws and Ministerial decisions to the competent authorities to take the due measures.
