Ministry of Economy and Commerce to inaugurate international workshop on

Under the patronage of H.E. Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Economy and Commerce; the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the US Federal Trade commission, will hold a two day international workshop on March 9 and 10, 2016 entitled “Achieving Effective Consumer Protection and Competition through Cross-Border Cooperation.”
 
The workshop will bring together experts and specialists in the field of competition and consumer protection from the Gulf Cooperation Council and the US Federal Trade Commission.
 
Experts and specialists will touch on several topics pertaining to competition and consumer protection laws and will review matters relating to competition and consumer protection in the automotive sector and exchange experiences in the areas of commercial fraud, fraud verification methods and evidence collection methods.
 
Moreover, the workshop will address the United States’ experience in the field of e-commerce and protecting consumers from financial fraud. Experts and specialists will also address the role of social media in promoting consumer awareness and spreading the culture of competition.
