Qatar and Vietnam Agree to Boost Trade and Economic Relations

Within the context of expanding and enhancing ties of friendship and cooperation existing between Qatar and Vietnam and in implementation of the directives of HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani and President Truong Tan Sang of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and according to the provisions of the agreement signed between the two countries in 2007 on economic, trade and technical cooperation, the Qatari-Vietnamese joint committee for economic, trade and technical cooperation held a number of meetings during 22 and 23 April 2013.
HE Sheikh Jassim Bin Abdulaziz Al Thani , the Minister of Business and Trade led the Qatari side to these meetings whereas the Vietnamese Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social welfare Pham Thi Hai Chuyen.
Qatar and Vietnam agreed to take necessary measures for developing further economic ties and shore up trade exchange between them via smoothing and facilitating the flux of commodities, services and investment between the two countries and intensifying joint cooperation to revitalize the agreements and memoranda of understanding reached in the fields of oil, gas, aviation, laborers, the joint businessmen council, food security, agriculture, banking and training.
At the end of the joint committee meetings, the two sides welcomed the accord they concluded on starting consultations to sign agreements on tourism and culture cooperation.
They also agreed to hold the second session of the Qatari-Vietnamese joint committee on economic, trade and technical cooperation in Vietnam in 2015.
