Qatar participates in official opening ceremony of Hannover Messe International Industrial Fair 2023

The State of Qatar participated in the official opening ceremony of the Hannover Messe International Industrial Fair 2023, which was inaugurated by His Excellency Mr. Olaf Scholz, German Chancellor, and His Excellency Mr. Joko Widodo, President of the Republic of Indonesia, the guest country for this year’s edition, held in Hannover, Germany, from 17-21 April 2023.

His Excellency Mr. Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, represented the State of Qatar at the event and inaugurated Qatar’s pavilion at the exhibition.

Organized by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and spanning an area of about 406 square metres, Qatar’s pavilion features a number of  government and private sector agencies specialized bodies in the industrial field, including: the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Investment Promotion Agency Qatar, Qatar Free Zones Authority, Qatar Science and Technology Park, Qatar Financial center and Qatar Chamber. In addition to a number of private companies such as Doha Cables Company and Azm Projects Development Company (plastic and glass), Ibtechar Company 3,2,1 (3D printing in educational and industrial projects), Al-Shabib Battery Factory, and Dallah Holding.

 

The State’s pavilion also sheds light on the leading Qatari industries and the latest technologies and technological developments in the industrial sector in the country. The Hannover International Industrial Fair comprises a significant opportunity to exchange expertise and experiences, introduce Qatari companies and industries, and blaze a trail for creating distinctive partnerships between Qatari and international companies, enhancing cooperation between them, in addition to introducing the most prominent global experiences, and significant technical development in the industrial sector.

 

During its participation in the Industrial Fair, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry presents the characteristics of Qatar’s investment environment. As well as, the laws and legislation passed to stimulate local and foreign investment, including the law regulating the investment of non-Qatari capital in economic activity, and the law regulating public-private partnership. Additionally, reviewing the incentives and advantages that have been provided to investors, such as exempting foreign invested capital from income tax for up to ten years for specific investment projects in many sector; and providing exemption from customs taxes and fees when importing equipment and raw materials. The Ministry also introduces the services provided to investors to facilitate procedures pertaining to investment applications, establishing companies, and completing transactions.

 

The Ministry also shines a spotlight on the investment opportunities available in the industrial sector, as well as the goals it seeks to achieve by 2030, and growth projections of the manufacturing sector.

Participating entities within Qatar’s pavilion showcased the most prominent initiatives undertaken by Qatar to attract and stimulate investments in the industrial sector and enhance its strategy of supporting the private sector and offering incentives to attract investors and foreign capital.

Participants also introduced Qatari industries in various sectors and the latest technological developments and advanced equipment being used in the industrial sector, in addition to the investment opportunities and incentives granted to investors, businessmen and entrepreneurs seeking to invest in various industries. These incentives promote domestic and foreign investments and contribute to the economic development of Qatar.

Furthermore, the participating entities organize a number of specialized workshops and presentations with the goal of introducing the most prominent distinguished projects and initiatives, as well as the state’s incentives, facilities and investment opportunities to attract more foreign direct investment, particularly in the industrial sector.

During the workshops and presentations, knowledge, expertise and experiences are exchanged, as well as the most pressing issues concerning the industry sector.

 

The program of the event includes a number of dialogue sessions that highlight a wide range of topics such as industrial automation, cloud technologies, digital infrastructure, data management, digital platforms, robotics, information security technology, artificial intelligence, renewable energies, green hydrogen, as well as efficient energy use, CO2-neutral production, digital energy management, and the economy alongside other important areas.
