The Public Transport Department at the Ministry of Business and Trade has concluded this afternoon, Thursday 09/13/2012, the Lloyd seminar that was organized at the Grand Regency Hotel- Doha, related to the National Port Security Committee which was formed by the decision No. 29 of 2012 by the Minister of Business and Trade. The committee includes representatives from MBT, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Qatar Petroleum and Qatar Ports Management Co.
The seminar was opened yesterday by HE Mr. / Majid Bin Abdul Rahman Al Mahmoud – Assistant Undersecretary for Business Affairs at the Ministry of Business and Trade, who welcomed the members of the Committee, as well as the participants of the Lloyd’s team. HE explained at the beginning of his speech the goals of this committee and the purpose of its formation, stressing at the same time on the follow-up and full support for the work of the committee by HE Sheikh / Jassim bin Abdulaziz Al Thani – Minister of Business and Trade, and his eagerness to overcome any obstacle that may face the Committee’s work in the future through legal measures.
HE Al Mahmoud added in his speech that during the coming period the committee will examine the international experiences and regional reports on ports to be used in creating a secure climate that organizes the work of the State’s ports that will be based primarily on international and approved standards, especially the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code – ISPS Code.
At the end of the opening, HE wished all success to the seminar that lasted for two days.
