In collaboration with the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry organised the Second Annual Government Sector Forum on Monday, November 4, 2024. The forum focused on evaluating the Roundtable Project with the private sector, reviewing achievements from the past year, and presenting a forward-looking strategy. This initiative underscores the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the business environment and enhancing economic competitiveness, aligning with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. The forum saw the participation of Mr. Saleh Majed Al-Khulaifi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs and Business Development; Mr. Ayedh Menahi Al-Qahtani, Assistant Undersecretary for Commerce Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry; and over 50 representatives from 26 government entities. Mr. Saleh Majed Al-Khulaifi, Assistant Undersecretary for Industrial Affairs and Business Development, underscored Qatar’s robust economic growth across multiple sectors, emphasising the government’s ambitious plans to empower the private sector as a key driver of economic advancement. He highlighted that the Third National Development Strategy introduces a bold, reform-focused approach to rapidly enhance Qatar’s business environment. This strategy seeks to transform Qatar’s growth model positively, positioning the private sector as the primary engine of the economy. Al-Khulaifi stressed the necessity of sustaining these efforts to achieve the National Development Strategy’s objectives, asserting that empowering the private sector will allow the government to allocate resources more effectively toward fostering innovation and enhancing competitiveness. This transformation will reduce the government's role in delivering services that the private sector can handle more efficiently, ultimately contributing to a more resilient and streamlined economy. Mr. Ayedh Menahi Al-Qahtani, Assistant Undersecretary for Commerce Affairs, underscored the significance of collaborative efforts between the public and private sectors in addressing challenges to business growth in Qatar. He stated, “The Ministry of Commerce and Industry is committed to strengthening strategic partnerships with the private sector and supporting it in line with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. We will continuously work on improving regulatory frameworks and eliminating obstacles to business growth. We look forward to seeing this cooperation create a competitive and attractive commercial environment for both local and foreign investments.” During the forum, the Investment Promotion Agency Qatar showcased a comprehensive overview of Qatar's investment landscape, emphasising the significant improvements made over the past year to enhance the business environment. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry presented the achievements of the Roundtable Project, addressing challenges facing the private sector and identifying opportunities for ongoing collaboration with key stakeholders to further improve the business climate. Additionally, the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau provided insights into how various entities can work together to tackle common challenges. As the event concluded, several distinguished government entities were recognised for their active participation, including the Ministry of Labour, the Ministry of Culture, the Commerce Sector within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and the General Authority of Customs.
