H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, participated today, Monday, 24 February 2025, at the Saudi-Qatari Business Forum held in Saudi Arabia. The forum was jointly organised by the Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Saudi Chambers – with the distinguished participation of H.E. Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Commerce, and H.E. Mr. Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Chairmen of the chambers of commerce of Saudi Arabia and Qatar attended the forum, along with numerous business leaders and investors, and representatives of major Qatari and Saudi companies.
The forum aims to enhance commercial, investment, and industrial cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to explore mutual investment opportunities, in line with sustainable economic growth aspirations under the national visions of both countries.
H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed delivered a speech at a ministerial meeting titled "Investment Trends in Economic Sectors", stressing the robust relations between Qatar and Saudi Arabia, founded on longstanding partnerships and common aspirations. Al-Sayed noted the keen interest of both countries' leadership in strengthening bilateral relations to fulfil the aspirations of both peoples with regards to economic development and social prosperity.
Al-Sayed clarified that the Qatari-Saudi relations have evolved significantly, owing to an enhanced cooperation, especially in the fields of industry, trade, and mutual investments, under the initiatives, projects, and agreements fostered by the Qatari-Saudi Coordination Council. H.E. also pointed out the substantial growth in trade volume between the two countries, increasing from $802.5 million in 2023 to $1.45 billion in 2024, recording a growth rate exceeding 82%.
H.E. emphasised that the forum serves as a pivotal platform to discuss topics of mutual interest and enhance mutual investments. He encouraged Qatari and Saudi investors to explore the opportunities available in both markets, focusing on value-added sectors that support sustainable economic development.
The ministerial meeting extended recognition to several Qatari and Saudi companies for their roles in developing mutual cooperation in several industries, including business development, project management, e-marketing, environmental solutions and smart cities.
The forum featured other panel discussions; the first of which was themed "Toward Fruitful Economic Integration" and the second titled "Promising Investment Opportunities," gathering representatives from the public and private sectors of the State of Qatar.
Moreover, the forum reviewed potential joint projects and discussed pathways to enhance cooperation.
On the sidelines, H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed met with H.E. Dr. Majed bin Abdullah Al-Kassabi, Minister of Commerce of Saudi Arabia, and H.E. Mr. Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Attiyah, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Saudi Arabia, where they reviewed topics of mutual interest aimed at enhancing mutual cooperation.
