The Egyptian President Meets Qatari Business Leaders and CEOs of Major Companies in the Presence of Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs

H.E. President Abdelfattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, met with a number of Qatari business leaders and chief executive officers of major Qatari companies as part of his official visit to the State of Qatar.

The meeting was attended by H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Minister of Finance; H.E. Mr. Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiya, Minister of Municipality; H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed, Minister of State for Foreign Trade Affairs; H.E. Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani, Board Member of the Qatari Businessmen Association; H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber; and senior officials and public sector representatives from both countries.

In his remarks, H.E. President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s keenness to broaden the scope of cooperation between the two countries, highlighting the importance of bolstering joint efforts to advance the strategic partnership between the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt to achieve the mutual interests of both countries.

For his part, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, extended a warm welcome to President El-Sisi and underscored the depth of the strong ties between the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt, rooted in longstanding historical and strategic foundations. His Excellency noted that bilateral relations have seen significant progress in recent years as a result of the shared determination of both countries' leadership to develop and diversify cooperation in support of a more sustainable and prosperous future for both nations.

H.E. Sheikh Mohammed stated that the meeting represents a strategic platform to enhance economic cooperation between Qatar and Egypt, in light of the remarkable progress in bilateral relations. His Excellency also noted that the trade exchange between the two countries recorded a compound annual growth rate of 50% over the past four years – asserting the pivotal role of the private sector in accelerating investment flows and unlocking new avenues for cooperation.

H.E. Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed reaffirmed Qatar’s continuous efforts to expand economic and trade cooperation and strengthen investment opportunities with regional and global partners to achieve mutual benefits and bolster bilateral partnerships. These efforts include developing cutting-edge infrastructure, streamlining business doing procedures, and introducing investment incentives in line with the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy (NDS3).

Dr. Al-Sayed underscored the importance of increasing collaboration and coordination to boost bilateral trade with the Arab Republic of Egypt, enhancing the integration between the private sectors in both countries and establishing strategic partnerships that support sustainable economic development.

His Excellency also referred to the bilateral agreements signed between the two countries in recent years, which serve as a foundation for building investor confidence—most notably the Economic, Commercial, and Technical Cooperation Agreement; the Agreement on the Mutual Promotion and Protection of Investments; and the Agreement on the Avoidance of Double Taxation. His Excellency added that both sides are preparing to launch negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement, which would unlock new avenues for the flow of goods and services and expand market access for investors in both countries.

For his part, H.E. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber, affirmed the importance of enhancing trade between Qatar and Egypt to reflect the significant economic potential of both countries. He also pointed to the strong ties between the Qatar Chamber and the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and the key role they play in strengthening cooperation between the business communities.

His Excellency urged Qatari business leaders to seize promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian market and encouraged Egyptian investors to explore the advantages of Qatar’s advanced investment environment, including modern infrastructure and a legislative framework designed to support economic growth.

The meeting featured several interventions by private sector representatives, business leaders, and executives of major Qatari companies, which explored ways to enhance economic cooperation and achieve greater integration in future joint investment projects.
