The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has issued a circular mandating owners of commercial, industrial, and similar establishments to register the selling prices of goods and services on the Ministry’s website’s electronic services section. The initiative is part of the Ministry’s efforts to develop the business environment and enhance price transparency in local markets.
The circular facilitates the registration and updating of price data by business owners through a simple and efficient digital process. This measure will help establish an accurate, up-to-date national database of goods and services prices, support digital transformation efforts, and strengthen mechanisms for price monitoring in the local market — thereby promoting transparency and maintaining a fair balance between the interests of traders and consumers.
The Ministry stresses the importance of providing accurate data during registration, in accordance with Law No. (12) of 1972 on Mandatory Pricing and Fixing Profits and its amendments, particularly Articles (1), (6), (9) and (10), which outline suppliers’ obligations under the law and its executive regulations.
The Ministry noted that it will continue coordinating with business owners to streamline the registration process and ensure the proper implementation of related procedures, thereby supporting market stability and protecting consumer rights.
