The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, has launched a series of awareness seminars for school students titled “The Young Innovator.” Held at Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys and Al Kaaban Primary, Preparatory and Secondary School for Girls, the seminars will include an integrated programme and activities continuing until the end of the 2026 academic year.
The initiative forms part of the Ministry’s efforts to promote the intellectual property culture among students, nurture their creativity and innovation, and equip them with practical experience that helps protect their ideas and inventions.
During the seminars, students received a “Beginner’s Guide” explaining the key concepts of intellectual property and their relevance to everyday life. The guide outlines the main areas of intellectual property, including industrial property—such as patents, trade names, and industrial designs—as well as copyright and related rights.
Speakers stressed the importance of protecting intellectual property rights as levers of national industries, fostering intellectual and technological advancement, and enhancing innovation and creativity.
Students were briefed on the Ministry’s key initiatives in intellectual property protection and its work focused on developing an integrated electronic system aligned with international standards to enable trademark owners, inventors, innovators, authors, and holders of related rights to safeguard and manage their creations.
The programme concluded with the launch of “The Young Innovator” competition, designed to inspire students to think creatively and develop new inventions. At the end of the programme, entries will be evaluated and five winners will be awarded the title of “The Young Innovator” and will receive recognition and prizes in appreciation of their outstanding achievements.
