Qatar and Uruguay Sign Agreement for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments

The State of Qatar and the Eastern Republic of Uruguay signed on Sunday, 7 December 2025, the Agreement for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments.

The agreement was signed by H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, on behalf of the State of Qatar, and H.E. Mr. Mario Lubetkin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, on behalf of Uruguay.

The signing of the agreement establishes a modern legal framework that facilitates mutual investment and strengthens investor confidence. The agreement ensures fair and equitable treatment for investors, provides protection against non-commercial risks, enables the transfer of funds, and adopts international best practices in dispute settlement, thereby contributing to a stable and transparent investment environment.

This agreement represents a significant step to enhance economic and trade cooperation between the two countries and create new opportunities for reciprocal investment across key sectors. 

The agreement will enter into force upon completion of the ratification procedures in accordance with the regulations in force in both countries.
