The Ministry of Commerce and Industry carried out intensive inspection campaigns on commercial outlets across various areas of the country, coinciding with the start of the new year and the back-to-school season. This comes as part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to monitor markets, ensure suppliers’ compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and detect any violations that may harm consumer rights.

Implemented in conjunction with the back-to-school season, the inspection campaigns covered stationery and office supply stores. Inspections focused on verifying the availability of school supplies, the clarity of product pricing, the consistency between shelf prices and those registered on payment devices, as well as the validity of offers and discounts, the clarity of their terms and conditions, and the accuracy of prices before and after discounts.

In addition, the campaigns extended to restaurants, children’s supply stores, and electronic shops to ensure compliance with applicable commercial laws. This included verifying the accuracy of advertised prices, the validity of licenses, and the absence of any practices that could constitute commercial fraud, while reinforcing adherence to regulations that uphold societal values and preserve public decorum.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continuing regular and seasonal inspection campaigns and to taking legal action against violators in accordance with the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law and its Executive Regulations.
