

The State of Qatar participated in the 70th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Trade Cooperation, the 56th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Industrial Cooperation, and the 11th meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Standardisation Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held on Thursday, 30 April 2026, via videoconference.
The Qatari delegation was headed by His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry.
The meetings were attended by Their Excellencies the Ministers of Commerce and Industry of the GCC member states, along with the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry also participated in the joint meeting between Their Excellencies the GCC Ministers of Commerce and Mr Chris Bryant, Member of Parliament and UK Minister for Trade, held via videoconference. The meeting reviewed topics of mutual interest aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two sides in trade-related areas, explored ways to support and enhance this cooperation, and discussed outstanding issues in the negotiations of the Free Trade Agreement with the United Kingdom.
As part of the Trade Cooperation Committee’s agenda, the GCC Ministers of Commerce discussed a number of items that contribute to strengthening joint Gulf trade cooperation.
The GCC Ministers of Industry also considered several agenda items aimed at enhancing industrial cooperation among member states.
Meanwhile, members of the GCC Ministerial Committee for Standardisation Affairs, during its 11th meeting, reviewed progress updates of the GCC Standardisation Organisation, approved draft Gulf technical regulations, and adopted the appropriate decisions.
His Excellency the Minister also took part in the 14th consultative meeting between Their Excellencies the Ministers of Commerce and Industry and the Chairpersons of the GCC Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federations, held via videoconference, where topics and recommendations submitted by the heads of the GCC chambers were discussed, and the appropriate decisions were taken.
