The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in cooperation with the GCC Intellectual Property Training Center, organized an advanced Patent Examination Training Program on 9 and 10 June 2026, with the participation of a number of patent examiners from the Ministry’s Intellectual Property Rights Protection Department.
The training aimed to develop participants’ skills and enhance their technical and legal knowledge in the field of patent examination through a review of the latest international practices and the exchange of expertise related to examination procedures and the assessment of patent applications in accordance with approved standards.
Topics covered included substantive patent examination, patent classification, international intellectual property agreements and treaties, applications of artificial intelligence in patent examination and prior-art searches, as well as the electronic systems and tools used in the examination and management of patent applications.
The initiative forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to develop national competencies and strengthen the intellectual property and innovation ecosystem.
