“Know Your Right As a Consumer” Program

In a first step for the Consumer Protection Department, and in cooperation with Qatar Radio, an awareness program targeting the Consumer Sector and aiming to define the different branches of the Consumer Rights, will be launched as a part of the CPD’s keenness to keep in touch with the consumer through the different media avenues, in order to spread culture and consumption awareness which constitute a necessity that every consumer must recognize amid the open markets and the varying prices affected by the law of Supply and Demand.
In this sense, the Consumer Protection Department launched a Radio Program directed to explain all the laws related to the Consumer Protection that protect him from exploitation, and maintain his rights every time he goes shopping. The program will deal also with the different aspects of the Consumption Process, like how to identify fake or counterfeit goods? What is the legal status of such cases? How to promote the culture of saving and consumption rationalization in a non-consumption oriented society? All of these issues, in addition to many others, will be dealt with in the presence of a number of experts and specialists from the Department or even from outside the State. Moreover, the program will shed lights on the different events and activities organized by the Consumer Protection Department.
The program will be “Weekly Broadcast” every Thursday at 3:30 pm and will provide a competition to the public based on the subject of each episode. A financial prize will be offered to the winner of “ Know Your Right As a Consumer” program that will be presented by Ms. / Buthaina Abdul Jalil, in cooperation with the section of Consumer Awareness in the Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Business and Trade.
