Ministry of Economy and Commerce wraps up international workshop on consumer protection and competition

The Ministry of Economy and Commerce wrapped up on Thursday, March 10, 2016 its international workshop on “Achieving Effective Consumer Protection and Competition through Cross-Border Cooperation.”
                                                      
The two-day workshop, which was organized in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council and the US Federal Trade Commission, brought together experts and specialists in the field of competition and consumer protection.
 
The second and final day of the workshop featured four sessions that touched on several topics pertaining to e-commerce and consumer protection, the role of social media in raising awareness about consumer rights and promoting competition as well as how to benefit and make use of consumer complaints in addition to creating complaints databases.
 
Participants also discussed cross-border cooperation between GCC countries and the US Federal Trade Commission in the consumer protection and competition field.
