

The State of Qatar participated in the ninth session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Consumer Protection Law and Policy, and the twenty-third session of the Intergovernmental Group of Experts on Competition Law and Policy, organized by UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) from 6 to 10 July 2026 at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
Qatar’s delegation was headed by Mr. Hassan bin Sultan Al-Ghanim, Assistant Undersecretary for Consumer Affairs at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The meetings discussed ways to develop legislation and policies related to consumer protection and competition protection, enhance product safety, address challenges associated with e-commerce and digital markets, combat harmful goods and unlawful commercial practices, and strengthen international cooperation and the exchange of best practices in a manner that contributes to promoting competitive markets and protecting consumer rights.
