The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced that the State of Qatar has joined the Nice Agreement Concerning the International Classification of Goods and Services for the Purposes of the Registration of Marks, which has now entered into force. This step comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance the services provided to investors and entrepreneurs and to improve the efficiency of legislative and regulatory frameworks in line with global developments.

The Nice Classification, established under the Nice Agreement, is an internationally recognized system used to classify goods and services for trademark registration. It enables the organization and standardization of registration procedures in accordance with internationally adopted standards, in line with global best practices in this field.

The Ministry further affirmed that joining this system will contribute to organizing goods and services into clearly defined classes during trademark registration, streamlining procedures, and enhancing clarity in the classification of trademarks in accordance with international standards. This, in turn, supports the business environment and strengthens investor confidence.
