


The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in coordination with the Ministry of Municipality, announced the launch of the National Initiative to Encourage Local Production and Support Sacrificial Livestock for 1447 AH – 2026, with sales set to begin on Thursday, 4 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH, corresponding to May 21, 2026. The final day for livestock sales will be the fourth day of Tashreeq, corresponding to Saturday, 13 Dhul Hijjah 1447 AH, or May 30, 2026. The initiative aims to support local production and provide sacrificial livestock at suitable prices for citizens.
According to the Ministry, sales for Qatari citizens will be limited to one sacrificial animal per Qatari ID card, provided that the beneficiary is at least 18 years old.
The Ministry stated that the selling price of a local sheep is QAR 1,000, while the price of an imported sheep is also QAR 1,000.
It added that livestock will be available at Widam Food Company pens located in Al Shamal, Al Khor, Umm Salal, Al Wakrah, Al Shahaniya, and Abu Nakhla, in addition to the company’s electronic application.
The Ministry also noted that the fees for slaughtering, cutting, packaging, and loading amount to QAR 50, including QAR 16 for slaughtering, cutting, and packaging services, and QAR 34 for loading, through separate coupons.
It further clarified that beneficiaries may use the slaughtering, cutting, and packaging coupon from the start of the initiative until the end of December 2026, should they choose not to slaughter the livestock immediately.
